Tijdens carnaval heet Valkenswaard Striepersgat en staat het hele (nou, hele) dorp op zijn kop.
Striepen verwijst nog naar de sigarenindustrie. Het is het verwijderen van de hoofdnerf van een tabaksblad.
Het beeld wat u hier aan treft wordt tijdens carnaval letterlijk op zijn kop gezet.
Bekijk het eens goed en ontdek de dubbele beeltenis.
Om deze virtual te mogen loggen moet je het volgende doen:
- Maak een foto van het beeld. Je hoeft er zelf niet op te staan (mag wel; op de kop is uiteraard heel leuk). Plaats deze foto bij je log.
Ik verwacht een zelf gemaakte foto. Foto's ergens van het internet geplukt zijn dus niet OK.
- Welke 2 beeltenissen zie je in het beeld? Stuur de antwoorden naar me toe via het Message Center.
Bij onjuiste logs zal ik contact opnemen, om alsnog tot een juiste log te komen.
Blijft een juiste log uit, dan kan deze verwijderd worden.

During carnaval Valkenswaard is called Striepersgat. The whole village is upside down.
"Striepen" refers to the sigar industry. It is removing the grain of the tabaco leaf.
The statue you see over here is turned upside down during Carnaval.
Have a good look and try to discover the two-fold meaning of it.
