We decided to place a Virtual here so that we would have a cache near our favourite holiday location. Xanthelou helped us to set up this cache.
This cache is placed in Mourea, a small settlement on the shore of Lake Rotorua. The Ohau channel flows through this settlement and connects Lake Rotorua to Lake Rotoiti. This channel is the only outlet of Lake Rotorua. It is located on a thin strip of land between Lake Rotorua and Lake Rotoiti, on State Highway 33. Mourea has three marae, The local Pikiao Rugby League Club and the long standing Happy Angler Store.
There are two tasks that you are required to do to log this virtual cache.
1) In order to log this Virtual cache, please take a photo at the end of the street that the coordinates take you to, with Mokoia Island framed by the two poles in the lake. You can include yourself in this photo if you would like. This photo is to be published with your log.
2) You also are required to message us through the Geocaching website the name on the gate of number 46 (the property closest to the channel, on the right facing the weir; bonus hint - it is in large white letters and you do not need to touch the gate or enter the property).
