In geocaching, we often talk about the world being our game board, so here we are playing a real life version of New Zealand Monopoly. Just without having to use real money!
To play this game of monopoly, the rules are simple. Just like in the board game version, you will start off with $1500, and then you will travel around the board landing on properties that you can choose to buy. Once you have bought enough properties, you can retire and log this virtual cache as found!
The properties are spread around New Zealand, so everyone in the country has a pretty equal chance to complete this virtual cache, and the level of challenge should be pretty similar no matter where you start.
How to play the game:
In order to retire, all you need to do is land on and buy at least FOUR properties, spending up to $1500, and these four properties must include at least ONE complete set (that's all of one colour, or all Railway Stations).
To buy a property, you just need to visit the waypoint associated with that property and take a photo that includes the object or sign specified for that property waypoint, along with yourself. These photos, you will need to upload with your found log once you have the properties you need.
Don't spend more than your allocated $1500. You can use this checker to make sure you don't overspend.
As an optional bonus, you can spend whatever is left over on upgrading your properties to see how much rent you can earn in your retirement, but this is purely optional and only for general amusement and bragging rights. If you want to do this optional bonus, make sure you use the checker!
A checker is available to confirm you have completed the virtual cache requirements, and will also give you some text you can paste into your Found It log.
