Geocache Description:

Chatham Lighthouse was first lit in 1877. Before 1923, it was know as "Twin Lights" as it was a pair of lighthouses. The structures and location have changed slightly over the years. Chatham is one of 16 lighthouses still standing on the coast of Cape Cod.

The coordinates will take you to a parking area where you can view the lighthouse. If you cross the street, there is historical information signs viewable from the sidewalk. The actual property is currently restricted and is a Coast Guard Facility. It is posted "No Trespassing" so stay in the public areas on the street-side of the fence to view and take a picture.

To claim this cache, post a picture of yourself and/or your GPS with the lighthouse from any public vantage point.

For 2023, the lighthouse is scheduled to be open for tours during Chatham Historic Weekend in June. After that, lighthouse tours are scheduled for every Wednesday (1:00-3:00 PM) through the months of July and August, and every other Wednesday through September.

Updated information on tours can be accessed through the USCG website.
