Geocache Description:

The Chappel viaduct is 1066ft long, has 32 arches of 30ft span and its maximum height is 75ft.
Renowned as being one of the largest brick built structures in England, Chappel Viaduct is situated near Wakes Colne in Essex and spans the picturesque Colne Valley.
Somewhere between 5 and 6 million bricks are believed to have been used in its construction. A work force of over 600 'navvies' were employed to complete the work which took two years, considered to be quick for such a large structure.
Although so many bricks were used in the construction, to save money and to cut down on weight, the piers were left hollow.

The 1960’s and Dr Beeching closed most of the local lines but the line to Sudbury via Chappel and Bures survived.
A proposal to close the line had been fought for several years, and the government announced that the line would close in July 1974.
Fortunately, the line was reprieved and the viaduct at Chappel, is still in use today.

To quaiify for the find please message gillywig with the answers to the following.

Q1 Where the road passes under the viaduct what number pier is to the south? (waypoint 01)

Q2 Go to the waypoint (02). What number pier is to the north of where you are standing?
Please take a photo from here and post it with your log. (optional)
