Shelburne Harbour Virtual Visit Virtual Cache

  Welcome to the Shelburne waterfront in the old district of the town which dates back to 1800’s. As you walk along Dock Street, you will notice the architecture heritage that has been lovingly preserved.   Due to this unique area, such movies such as the Book of Negros, Mary Silliman's War, Moby Dick, and The Scarlett Letter were filmed there as well as others. Shelburne County has been known for its ship building history and fishing heritage also. It is common to hear among the locals that we have the ‘Third largest natural harbour’ in the world.

    This virtual cache is a tribute to the fishing industry. Please show respect while visiting this area. There is no need to contact me for confirmation before logging this cache but the information should be sent in, either via email or the message system on geocaching.com, in a timely manner. If there are problems, I will contact you.

There are 3 necessary requirements for this virtual cache at the posted coordinates:

1. Find the oldest date on one of the three monuments and tell me the common name of the two people and the date they perished at sea.

2. Find the date when the large monument was erected.

3. Take a photo of yourself or your GPS identifying a spot in the area without revealing an answer to a previous question and attach it to the log.
