A EF-4 tornado ripped through this area leaving a trail of devastation. Homes leveled and lives turned upside down. Believe it or not, some are still trying to recover. Cleanup lasted for many months. There are still signs of damage as some homes have yet to rebuild, 3+ years later. Across the field from this location once stood a water tower. While the tornado did not knock it down, it was too unstable and was quickly drained and eventually taken down. Some of the metal from that tower was used on the sculpture seen here at gz.
