Geocache Description:

Ingham County Courthouse Stroll

Constructed from 1902 to 1904, it is Ingham County's third courthouse and the second on this block, which is directly north of the site of the first courthouse. Designed by noted Lansing architect Edwyn A. Bowd in the Beaux Arts style of architecture, it was built by George W. Rickman and Sons Company of Kalamazoo.

To claim a find on this Virtual Cache simply send me the answers to the following questions via message or Email.

A. At the southwest corner of the building you will see a large cornerstone. What are the dates carved into the stone?

B. At the southwest corner of the block you will find the Veteran's Memorial Monument, built to honor those who gave their lives in World War II. My uncle Raymond L Cook is one of the service members memorialized here. Send me either of the names memorialized above or below his.

C. From the Veteran's Memorial head to the cannons on the northwest corner of the block. The large cannon is from the Civil War and was presented in 1900 by what organization? Hint: The answer is not USA.

D. The small cannon is from Company F, 31st Infantry of the Michigan National Guard. What group of people presented the cannon to the Guard and when was it presented?

E. What is perched on the top of the courthouse dome?

I hope you enjoy your stroll on the courthouse grounds, if you have the time and the courthouse is open there is a small museum inside which displays items that have been donated to the county.

Congratulations to HelloLola and RDC4106 on their shared First To Find ! ! !
