Welcome to the Dancing Sands Spring at Te Waikoropupū Springs. Te Waikoropupū Springs are the largest freshwater springs in New Zealand, the largest cold water springs in the Southern Hemisphere, and contain some of the clearest water ever measured.
This is a virtual geocache there is no container to find at or near the co-ordinates and you are not permitted to touch the sacred waters here. To claim your visit/find you must go to the posted co-ordinates and to the additional waypoints to carry out the tasks required. You can claim your find immediately once you have sent us the required info but any logs not meeting the requirements will be deleted without warning.
Tasks required to claim your find:
1. Go to the posted co-ordinates and take a picture of yourself or something with your geocaching name on it. Make sure the Dancing Spring is visible in the background. Photos taken in the dark where the background is not visible will not be acceptable and the visit will be deleted.
2. Visit the main Spring where there is a sign at a posted waypoint. Send us the number of words on the sign and the English translation of those words.
3. Visit the car park waypoint and find out how old the water in the Deep Flow System is on average. Send us your answer.
