Každý "found it" log musí mať svoju fotku.

According to the legend, there was once a monastery of the Templars on the hilltop called Mních (eng. Monk). The legend has it that in 1230  the Templar master Johann Gottfried von Herberstein and his knights visited and stayed for some time. During this stay, once upon the return to the monastery he saw the merchants being robbed and decided to help.

Although they  were only a small group, they bravely fought the robbers.  But sadly, the Master Johan died. His knights took his remains to the little stone church in Martinček village and buried him there in a few-meter-long shaft excavated into the slope of the church hill. Later, they also used this burial site for many other members of the Order. This burial method had been apparently also used by the masters of the nearby Likava Castle.

As the times passed the Templar monastery disappeared without a trace and Likava Castle was abandoned and  derelict, people forgot all about the graves and the Templars. Still, the deep shafts that stayed cold even in the hottest summer days were eventually discovered and used for storing the crops and food. The roofs,  so-called "dašky" (from the german word "dach"-  roof) were built above the shafts and in this form they survived until the present days and are still being used mainly for storing potatoes. This way of storing the crops extended widely in the area. One of the most famous places are the cellars in Liptovská Teplička village. Historians claim that the Templars had never been in these locations and the monastery never existed. However, there seem to be a physical proof of their presence in this place - a Templar cross window in the eastern wall of the Martinček church. This cannot be explained by those experts who deny the presence of the Templars ...
Yet, there might be another proof of the Templar´s presence - in some maps is visible an Spirit of the Templar grandmaster shines from time to time over the church.

Though the Templars called themselves the poor knights of Christ, they were supposedly very wealthy and so still to these days many seek their treasures in the Liptov region. You only need to find the templar cross-shaped window on the church wall and attach a selfie with that Templar cross, or  photo of that Templar cross with your GPS.

The rule is simple, but beware: Tepmlar not accepted unfair play and scam.
Logs without the required photo, older than 1 month will be deleted. A link to a group photo in another log, or in a Write note, will not be accepted. Each found it log must have a own photo!
