＜二重橋＞
日本は、日本国憲法にて天皇を日本国及び日本国民統合の象徴とした制度を持つ国です。そして、その天皇がお住いの場所が皇居です。
その皇居の最も代表的な景観が皇居前広場から皇居の正門に通じる二重橋です。 正門前の濠には二つの橋が架かっており、広場側にある橋が「正門石橋」、奥の橋が「正門鉄橋」です。
「二重橋」は一般にこの二つの橋を総称して言われていますが、正確には奥の橋「正門鉄橋」を指します。江戸時代、この場所に二重構造の木橋が架けられたことが二重橋と呼ばれる由来で、現在の橋は二重構造ではありませんが、それでも「二重橋」という通称は、そのまま用いられています。
手前の、石造りの二連アーチ構造の「正門石橋」は、二つのアーチが水面に映る姿から「眼鏡橋」とも呼ばれています。一般の通行は出来ませんが、この正門石橋を渡ったところが皇居の玄関口となる「皇居正門」で、門の前には皇宮警察の皇宮護衛官の姿が見られます。
なお、皇居の参観も日時、その他制約がありますが、可能です。是非、皇居内の参観もお楽しみ下さい。

＜Double Bridge＞
