Geocache Description:


Husky the Muskie is a 40 foot tall statue located along the Trans-Canada Highway within the town of Kenora. This statue was originally built as part of the Canadian Centennial project in 1967. Since then it has become a beloved statue loved by the locals and by those tourists who come to explore the Lake of The Woods area. Overlooking the beautiful waterfront of Kenora, it makes a great place to stop and take a cool photo!

Having being built back in 1967, Husky the Muskie has required some attention since then, as parts of the statue were starting to show its age. The town of Kenora decided to repair Husky the Muskie back in 1995 for a price tag of $20,000, which I am sure most local residents will agree was certainly worth it! I enjoy visiting Husky the Musky each summer, and here is a photo of me the day of visiting Husky the Muskie this summer:
