"When Merlin's Oak shall tumble down. Then shall fall Carmarthen Town" Merlin's Oak stood in the centre of Carmarthen amid the legend that King Arthur's famous wizard had placed a protective curse on it, in local traditions the wizard had said Carmarthen would "drown" if the Oak was ever removed & some even said a curious pointed notch in the tree was Merlin himself!! The Oak was removed from the town when someone set it on fire. Carmarthen then suffered its worst floods in living memory.
To Claim : Provide a photograph of the exhibit of the Oak which is on display at the Bishops Palace Museum Abergwili, including you or your GPS /phone etc. Please note that ONLY ONE PHOTOGRAPH is PERMITTED, & NO OTHER PHOTOGRAPHS MUST BE TAKEN whilst in the museum building. Failure to comply will result in this cache being cancelied.

During school summer holidays the museum is open every day (Inc Sunday) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.and Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m to 4 30 p.m. outside the summer holidays. This virtual cache is "placed " with the kind permission of the Curator of Carmarthenshire County Museum. The grounds of the Museum are also available to visiting cachers.
Admission is free but donations are never refused.
