Geocache Description:

Requirement in order to log: 2 pictures, one from the given coordinates and one from the waypoint!

For å logge denne cachen må du:

Hans Colbjørnsen was a trader in Fredrikshald (the old name for Halden city) in the early 1700s, and he mainly traded with lumber. He owned a couple of apartement buildings in Fredrikshald, and farms in Eskeviken and in Berg.

Peder Colbjørnsen probably worked together with his brother, and when his uncle Niels Stub died, he inherited significant properties in the area around Fredrikshald.

The brothers highly participated in defending Fredrikshald when the Swedish king Charles XII invaded Norway in the spring of 1716. When the Swedish forces was about to get the upper hand in the city, the brothers got their servants to set fire to the houses. The city burned to the ground and the Swedes lost their upper hand. However, they took the brothers as their prisoners. This incident inspired Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson to mention Fredrikshald as the only city in "Ja, vi elsker" (4th verse).

To log this cache you have to:

Optional: draw your interpretation of something that has to do with a fire on a piece of paper or on something else and let the drawing be visible on both pictures.

1. walk to the given coordinates. Take a picture and include the picture in the log. The stone monument at the town square must be visible together with your hand (or all of you, if you want to), your nick or your GPSr/telephone.

You do not have to send me a message when you've done this. Logs that don't fulfill these requirements (2 pictures) will be deleted without further notice.
