Con este virtual aunamos muchas de las cosas que nos gustan: geocaching, cine, historia, sitios chulos...

La ciudad de Peñíscola es un lugar obligado de visita para los turistas que visitan la Comunidad Valenciana y sería largo explicar aquí todos sus atractivos. Uno de los más prominentes es su castillo, enclavado en lo alto la zona más elevada del peñón que domina la ciudad. Conocido popularmente como el castillo del Papa Luna, se comenzó a construir en 1294 por la Orden del Temple y fue terminado en 1307. En 1319 con la disolución de la orden del Temple, el castillo pasó a manos de la Orden de Montesa los cuales ampliaron la fortaleza. En este castillo se refugió hasta su muerte en 1423 el aragonés Pedro de Luna, que fue elegido papa en 1394 como Benedicto XIII (el papa Luna) y condenado en 1415 como hereje y antipapa.

La espectacularidad del barrio histórico y su castillo han atraido a multitud de producciones audiovisuales (ver la web Peñíscola de Cine), desde clásicos del cine español como Calabuch (1965) hasta capítulos de series tan existosas como Juego de Tronos.



Pero si hay una película que resuena especialmente en la memoria cinematográfica de Peñíscola es El Cid (1961), donde la Playa Norte fue fue el escenario de la batalla final del Cid para la conquista de la ciudad de Valencia.

Debes incluir en tu log una foto tomada en las coordenadas (en la playa) en la que aparezcas tu o tu nick escrito en un papel, buscando una perspectiva similar a la de las fotos de la película de El CId con el castillo al fondo. Aunque no es obligatorio, te animamos a que poses en la foto como si fueras el mismísimo CID (ver ejemplos).

With this virtual we bring together many of the things we like: geocaching, cinema, history, cool places...

The city of Peñíscola is an essential destination for tourists visiting the Valencian Community and it would be long to describe all its attractions here. One of the most outstanding is the castle, located on top of the highest point of the rock that dominates the city. Popularly known as the Castle of the Pope Luna, it was initiated in 1294 by the Order of the Templars and completed in 1307. In 1319 with the dissolution of the Temple order, the castle passed into the hands of the Order of Montesa which expanded the fortress. In this castle took refuge until his death in 1423 the Aragonese Pedro de Luna, who was elected pope in 1394 as Benedict XIII (Pope Luna) and sentenced in 1415 as heretic and antipope.

The spectacular historic district and its castle have attracted a large number of audiovisual productions (see the Peñíscola de Cine website), from classics of Spanish cinema such as Calabuch (1965) to chapters of such successful series as Game of Thrones.



But if there is one film that resonates especially in the cinematographic memory of Peñíscola, it is El Cid (1961), where the Playa Norte was the scene of the final battle of El Cid for the conquest of the city of Valencia.



HOW TO LOG THIS VIRTUAL
You have add to your log a photo of you (or your nick or logo), taken at the coordinates (on the beach) and trying a perspective similar to that of the photos of the film El Cid, with the castle in the background. Although it is just optional, we encourage you to pose in the photo as if you were the CID himself (see examples).

Logs that do not meet the requirements of this virtual, will be deleted without notice.
