Geocache Description:

Strongbow and Aoife Sculpture

This sculpture was unveiled in August 2014 to commemorate the marriage of Strongbow and Aoife. It is located in the Bishop's Palace Garden which is a public space within the Viking Triangle of Waterford City. The sculpture was designed by Eithne Ring and Liam Lavery.

Aoife, the daughter of Diarmaid McMurrough King of Leinster married Strongbow, the Anglo-Norman leader in 1170 at the nearby Christchurch Cathedral.
