Geocache Description:

We hope you enjoy the park and have time to enjoy everything it has to offer. With paved walking trails it is easy for everyone to walk or bike around the park. The loop around the park is 1 km but has several places to rest along the way, including picnic tables and benches.

A public washroom facility is open seasonally (summer) and concession service is generally open when the Whitecourt River Slides are operating. It is recommended that you bring tubes and flotation toys to fully experience the fun of the Whitecourt River Slides (rentals are not available) There is a air filling station available if you forgot your air pump.

Rotary Park in Whitecourt has often been on the where to go when in Alberta lists. It offers a splash park, tubing slides, fishing at the pond, a large playground that is also equipped with an electronic playground, soccer fields, beach volleyball courts, an off leash dog area for both large and small dogs, lots of picnic tables and benches to rest on.

It has a large Osprey nest that is occupied during the warm months and has signage with information on it on one part of the path. Look for it on the north side of the pond. There is often water fowl around the pond from ducks and geese to cranes.

The park is host to many events year round from Relay for Life to Party in the Park. Fireworks are currently set off here on Canada day and the park is filled with lots of activities for young and old. Art in the Park is usually held three times during the summer.

In the winter, there is ice skating, once the pond is frozen and a fire pit. Family day events are held here and often include ice sculpting.

The best part about this park is that everything is free. Including concerts and holiday activities.

Remember that while dogs are allowed in the park, they must be on leash unless they are in the off leash dog parks.

Rotary Park is always expanding and much more is in the plans to make this a fantastic destination for visitors and for those who live in the area.

To claim this virtual you must complete the following and email 1-3 to the cache owner:

1: At Virtual stage 2 you will see the splash park. What is on the flag?

2: At Virtual Stage 3 you will see the International Rotary Gazebo. How many benches are facing inward and how many are facing outward. (Two answers.)

3: Virtual Stage 4: Start from the trail head and count how many Dog waste bag receptacles do you see around the loop until you finish at the gazebo again. How many did you see?

4: Post a photo of your favourite part of the park in your log. If you want to pose for us at the park, we'd love that too. (Please, no spoilers for the above questions.)
