Die Platane (Platanus, von gr. πλάτανος [plátanos]) war dem Göttervater Zeus gewidmet und galt den Griechen als heilig. Sie diente daher vielerorts als Dorfbaum.
Die Platane bildet die einzige Gattung der Pflanzenfamilie der Platanengewächse (Platanaceae). Wuchskraft und guter Wundverschluss machen sie heute zum beliebten Baum für lebende Baumskulpturen von oft skurrilen Formen. Eine Besonderheit ist auch, dass Platanen auf Grund ihres Wachstums regelmäßig große Stücke ihrer Rinde abwerfen.
Die Platane am Bahnhof in Stockerau ist in vielen Jahrzehnten mit ihren majestätisch ausladenden Ästen inzwischen zu einem prächtigen Naturdenkmal herangewachsen.

The plane tree is the only genus of the plant family of the plane plants (Platanaceae). Growth power and good wound closure make it a popular tree for living tree sculptures of often bizarre forms. A special feature is that plane trees regularly throw off large pieces of their bark due to their growth.
The plane tree at the trainstation in Stockerau has grown into a magnificent natural monument over many decades with majestically spreading branches.

- Beweisfoto/photo of evidence
Füge Deinem Online-Log als Beweis, dass du wirklich vor Ort warst, ein Foto von dir und/oder deinem GPS/Handy mit der Platane im Hintergrund bei.
