Bab Al Bahrain, was formerly the home of the government offices, literally means gateway to Bahrain. This place was right on the sea edge but with reclaimed land it is now very much inland. Bab Al Bahrain was chosen for a virtual cache by the Facebook group for Bahrain geocachers mainly as we wanted it to be tourist friendly and a lot of the cachers will be coming in on cruise ships and Bab Al Bahrain is usually on the list of places to go.
Bab Al Bahrain or the souk is a collection of market shops and stalls, and can get very busy with tourists and locals alike. There is a wide variety of things on offer, but if you are fresh of the boat expect to haggle as the first price given will not be the best price. the co ordinates will place you under the clock at the main entrance to the Souk.
Logging requirements
please post a picture of youself, or your GPS, or a personal item showing your caching name, or even your favourite trackable. Whatever you choose, I would like the photo to include your national flag. see photo for example.
Take your photo at the co ordinates although I would like to see pictures of the souk at other locations as well it would be nice to see a spread of photos with all the different things that the souk has to offer, multiple photos isn’t a requirement to log. Logs without the picture will be deleted - sorry but no armchair geocachers! In your log it would be nice to hear your thoughts of the souk and what you bought.
