Nya Lapphyttan är en fullskalig rekonstruktion av en medeltida järnframställningsplats, "Lapphyttan" som frilades vid en arkeologisk utgrävning norr om byn Olsbenning i Norbergs kommun.
Åtta färskningshärdar vid det ursprunliga Lapphyttan tyder på att ägarna har följt det privilegiebrev som 1354 skrevs av kung Magnus Eriksson år 1354 för Norberg, där järn och stålproduktionen reglerades till att en hytta maximalt fick delas av åtta personer. Mellan 1978 och 1983 genomfördes arkeologiska undersökningar på platsen där en komplett medeltida hyttbacke kunde lokaliseras med masugn, järnbod, rostbås, åtta färskningshärdar, kolhus samt bostadshus med stall. Bälgar drivna av vattenkraft samt rester av dammvallar hittades. Datering med hjälp av kol 14-metoden gjorde att vissa delar av hyttan kunde dateras till slutet av 1100-talet och övriga delar till 1200- och 1300-talet. Detta gör Lapphyttan till Europas äldsta kända masugn! Nya Lapphyttan är även den enda rekonstruerade medeltida masugnen. År 2013 tilldelades Lapphyttan utmärkelsen årets industriminne för epokgörande forskningsinsatser, återtagande av praktisk kunskap och nyskapande arbete för att levandegöra medeltida storskalig järnhantering. Utmärkelsen gäller för såväl den ursprungliga hyttplatsen som rekonstruktion vid Nya Lapphyttan.
Nya Lapphyttan har ett besökscentrum som är öppet sommartid med information, utställningar och film. Vid Ekomusuem Bergslagens besökscentrum finns en karaktäristiskt röd liten byggnad, denna går att nå genom att gå uppför kullen alternativt genom att, under besökscentrets öppettider, klättra genom den anlagda kullen. På er väg in mot Nya Lapphyttan finns en "entrebyggnad" som innehåller information om området såväl som järnframställning.

Nya Lapphyttan (New Lapphyttan) is a full-scale reconstruction of a medieval iron production site, "Lapphyttan" which was excavated during an archaeological excavation north of the village Olsbenning in Norberg municipality.
Eight refinery hearths at the original Lapphyttan indicate that the owners followed the letter of privilege written in 1354 by King Magnus Eriksson in 1354 for Norberg, where iron and steel production was regulated so that a smeltery could be shared by a maximum of eight people. Between 1978 and 1983, archaeological investigations were carried out at the site where a complete medieval smeltery hill could be located with a blast furnace, iron shed, rust booth, eight refinery hearths, coal houses and residential houses with stables. Bellows powered by hydropower and remnants of dams were found. Dating using the carbon 14 method meant that some parts of the cabin could be dated to the end of the 12th century and other parts to the 13th and 14th centuries. This makes Lapphyttan Europe's oldest known blast furnace!
The new Lapphyttan is also the only reconstructed medieval blast furnace.
In 2013, Lapphyttan was awarded the award for industrial memory of the year for epoch-making research efforts, retrieval of practical knowledge and innovative work to bring medieval large-scale iron handling to life. The award applies to both the original cabin site and reconstruction at Nya Lapphyttan.
Nya Lapphyttan has a visitor center that is open in summer with information, exhibitions and film. At Ekomusuem Bergslagen's visitor center there is a characteristic red small building, this can be reached by walking up the hill or by, during the visitor center's opening hours, climbing through the constructed hill.
On your way to Nya Lapphyttan there is an "entrance building" which contains information about the area as well as iron production.
