SWEDISH: På Umeå universitets campus finns omkring 1 200 konstverk. Sedan invigningen 1965 har många av landets främsta konstnärer medverkat för att gestalta miljön på campus, både inomhus och ute på området. Norra skenet är en skulptur av Ernst Nordin och en symbol för Umeå universitet. I samband med utformningen av Umeå universitets campus utlystes en riksomfattande tävling, vilken vanns av Ernst Nordin med Norra skenet 1967. Skulpturen restes ursprungligen 1969 och flyttades 1995 till sin nuvarande plats vid Universitetsdammen, för att ge plats åt Lärarutbildningshuset. Källa: Umeå Universitet.

ENG: On Umeå University's campus there are about 1,200 works of art. Since the inauguration in 1965, many of the country's foremost artists have participated in shaping the environment on campus, both indoors and outdoors. The Northern Lights is a sculpture by Ernst Nordin and a symbol of Umeå University. In connection with the design of Umeå University's campus, a nationwide competition was announced, which was won by Ernst Nordin with Norra skenet in 1967.
