Geocache Description:

I first found this spot in 1974, and it remains just about my favorite place in the world.

There are multiple ways to reach this spot - most of the time you can drive your geomobile to the nearby parking lot and take a short walk to the GZ. You can also hike to it from Echo Lake or Diana's Baths on established trails. It's also a popular rock climbing location, although you need equipment and expertise for that.

It is a New Hampshire State Park that requires a fee to park and enter. There is a self-service kiosk in the parking lot. Currently, the fee is $4 for adults and $2 for children. Please pay the fee so the park can be maintained for the future.

Most people head directly for the fenced off area overlooking the valley and north to the Presidential mountains. And you should go there, as well. But I prefer a quieter spot away from the crowds. You don't have to approach any edges, and there are even convenient rocks if you want to sit and soak up the beauty.

I would prefer you add a photo to your log from the posted coordinates looking at nearby White Horse Ledge or the mountain ridge to the southwest to prove you were there. Please include yourself pointing to the view, your GPS, or a geocaching-related item in the photo to show you were there. That photo lets me enjoy the views in all seasons and weather.

If you would prefer not to post a photo, then please return to the nearby waypoint and email or message me how many granite slabs are on the southwest side of the walkway "bridge" at that location.

I will allow three First to Finds for this cache. One will be for the first cacher to drive to the location. The second will be for the cacher who hikes to the location (please give some details of your route in your log). The third will be for a rock climb to the location.

Virtual Rewards 2.0 - 2019/2020

Trail Mongers got a Halloween treat with their driving First-To-Find. Since they had been there before, the lack of a view wasn't an issue.

Ravengal managed to be the First-To-Find by hiking by hiking up the road with muggle friends.

Coach Eagle seems to be the first to rock climb to the location, so gets the final First To Find.
