L'esercito nemico entrò in Vittorio giovedì 8 novembre 1917. La città con le sue strutture sanitarie, le attività produttive, le centrali idroelettriche e un gran numero di edifici eleganti e confortevoli, divenne il loro quartier generale per un anno in quella che era una zona molto sensibile, inserita tra il gruppo di divisioni montagna esercito del generale Conrad e l'esercito del generale Isonzo Boroevic.
Vittorio Veneto subì una dura occupazione militare da parte dell'esercito asburgico, con i cittadini costretti a una convivenza difficile con le truppe di diverse nazionalità. Il territorio fu sconvolto sotto il punto di vista demografico, economico e amministrativo. Prima della guerra, la città contava circa 22.000 abitanti. Più tardi, dopo l'annuncio del generale Cadorna, in seguito alla sconfitta di Caporetto era popolata solo da donne, bambini, anziani, malati e il clero e suore.
Questa cache vi porterà in giro per Ceneda e Serravalle, i due comuni che ora formano Vittorio Veneto, alla scoperta dei luoghi chiave della Grande Guerra e dell’occupazione Austro Ungarica durante l’ultimo anno di conflitto. Il percorso è di circa 10km (andata e ritorno dalla stazione dei treni) e vi occuperà per circa 2-3 ore.

The enemy army entered in Vittorio Thursday 8 November 1917. The city with its health facilities, productive activities, hydroelectric power plants and a large number of elegant and comfortable buildings became their headquarters for a year in a very sensitive area, inserted between the group of mountain army divisions of General Conrad and the army of General Isonzo Boroevic.Vittorio Veneto suffered a harsh military occupation by the Habsburg army, with citizens forced to live in difficult coexistence with troops of different nationalities.
