Welcome to Antigua and Barbuda and the Land of 365 Beaches!
After being honoured with being given one of these one off limited releases of virtual caches, we though there would be no better place but Antigua to celebrate by placing one here as our first international cache and only the second virtual on Antigua!
Antigua can be summed up through it's corrugated coasts that cradle hundreds of perfect little coves, lapped by beguiling enamel-blue water, while the sheltered bays have provided refuge for everyone from Admiral Nelson to buccaneers and yachties. If you can tear yourself away from that towel, you'll discover that there’s a distinct English accent to this island. You'll find it here in the bustling capital of St John's and also if you have time, in the salty-glamorous English Harbour, and in the historical forts and other vestiges of the colonial past. Yet, Antigua is also quintessential Caribbean, full of candy-colored villages, a rum-infused mellowness and engaging locals who'll greet you with wide smiles. Antigua and it's other constituent island Barbuda form the nation of Antigua and Barbuda and hence has given rise to the nickname of the land of 365 beaches due to the vast number of beaches that surround the two islands.
Your job to help us celebrate the wonderful island of Antigua is to simply complete the following:
- What hidden gems have you found whilst staying on the island that are a must see for fellow visitors?
- Look at what is under your feet, what shape is present and could you explain it's relation to the island?
- (Optional) Take a photo of yourself here at heritage quay or choose you favourite photo from anywhere in Antigua.
Once you think you have completed the following, please send your answers to ourselves either via the message centre or emailing directly, both of which can be completed by looking at our profile. You are then welcome to log the cache, please do not wait for confirmation of your answers.
