Gallarate [ITA]
Gallarate (Galarà in dialetto varesotto), detta anche "Città dei due galli" per via dei due galli presenti nello stemma araldico, si trova a ridosso delle Prealpi Lombarde ma già in pianura, è in provincia di Varese della quale è una delle città più grandi.
Ha origini antiche che risalgono circa al II Millennio A.C. quando i Galli la facevano da padroni, infatti il nome della città deriva proprio dai Galli che fondarono il primo nucleo abitativo in epoca pre-romana, probabilmente insubre, nucleo che oggi è la centralissima Piazza della Libertà.
Oggi piazza della Libertà è i cuore di Gallarate, zona pedonale, aperta e spaziosa è il luogo di ritrovo e di passeggiata dei Gallaratesi. Affacciata sulla piazza, la Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta domina dalla sua posizione rialzata, al fianco il "fido" campanile alto 45 metri, evidentemente di epoca precedente e di colori e materiali diversi dalla facciata ha infatti quattro secoli più della chiesa che fu finita a metà dell'800.
L'interno merita una visita in quanto custodisce opere di artisti come Luigi Cavenaghi, Celso Stecchetti, Giuseppe Rosnati, Edoardo Tabacchi e Duprè.
Ma concentriamoci sulla piazza!
Di forma quasi ovale, al centro presenta una fontana rotonda leggermente rialzata su un marciapiede, e indoviate chi fa bella mostra incastonato nel marciapiede? Ebbene si, lo stemma con i nostri due amati Galli!!
Per loggare questa virtual dovrete mettere i vostri piedoni su uno dei due stemmi con i Galli, e farvi una foto da allegare al log, sarebbe simpatico se con una bella cresta in testa. Potete farla semplicemente con una mano, con i capelli (per chi li ha ancora) o in qualsiasi altro modo vi venga in mente, spazio alla fantasia :-)

Gallarate (Galarà in the dialect of Varese), also known as the "City of the two roosters" due to the two roosters in the heraldic coat of arms, it is located close to the Lombard Prealps but still on the plain, it is in the province of Varese of which it is one of the greatest cities.
It has ancient origins that date back to around the II Millennium B.C. when the Gauls were the masters, in fact the name of the city derives from the Gauls who founded the first inhabited center in pre-Roman times, probably insubric, which today is the central Piazza della Libertà.
Today Piazza della Libertà is the heart of Gallarate, a pedestrian area, open and spacious, it is the meeting place for people that live in Gallarate. Overlooking the square, the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta dominates from its elevated position, alongside the bell tower 45 meters high, evidently of a previous era, with different colours and made with materials differents from the façade, it has almost four centuries less than the church that was finished in the mid-1800s.
The interior is worth a visit as it houses works by artists such as Luigi Cavenaghi, Celso Stecchetti, Giuseppe Rosnati, Edoardo Tabacchi and Duprè.
But let's focus on the square!
Almost oval in shape, in the center it has a slightly raised round fountain, and guess who is showing off set into the pavement? Oh yes, the emblem with our two beloved roosters!!
To log this virtual you will have to put your feet on one of the two arms with the Gauls, and take a picture to attach to the log, would be aoreciated with a nice crest in the head. You can do it simply with one hand, with your hair (for those who still have) or in any other way you can think, use your immagination.
