Description
Leeds is a city with a rich and varied history, like many others in the UK and around the world. Some stories are obvious and clear to see while others may have vanished already never to be told. This cache will act as an opportunity for everyone to learn something and tell the stories which they wish to be told. Reading back through the logs over time should build a tapestry as interesting and as varied as people want it to be. It's not for me to tell you what is important to be recorded in history.
Logging Requirements
- (Mandatory) Please add a photo of yourself (or body part, piece of caching equipment, sheet of paper with your caching name written on it) and some proof of the date you were in the city (phone, watch, newspaper, sheet of paper with the date written on it) with the statue of The Black Prince at the published coordinates. This acts to prove that you have visited the location on the date you log. Given this is a prominent landmark, there is a chance someone may have an existing photo, hence the requirement for the date.
- (Optional, but highly encouraged and kind of the point of the cache) Please add to your log a piece of history about the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire. This could be a place, an organisation, a person, an institution, or any other subject you can think of so long as there is a reasonable link to the city. This can be ancient or recent history, something close to your heart or not, and can go into as little or as much detail as you want. Please take a little time to read the logs which have come before, and if possible avoid repeating subject matters which have already been covered. There must be thousands of stories worth telling. If there are multiple accounts in your party, it would be nice to see a different subject on each log rather than a block of logs all on the same subject. Please avoid subjects which would intentionally or obviously cause controversy.
- (Further optionally, but encouraged) Please add to your log any photos from the city of Leeds which help to bring your chosen piece of history to life, or tie it to the city. If the pictures are taken in unusual location, please consider adding the coordinates of these locations to your log to help others discover them if they wish.
