13 juli 1975, een klein festivalletje ging van start in, een klein ongekend dorpje, Werchter. Er was op een weide een feesttent geplaatst waar je voor 100 frank, 2,5 euro dus, naar een zestal groepen kon gaan kijken.
Ondertussen is de feesttent uitgegroeid tot het wereldberoemde festival Rock Werchter. Niet meer in een feesttent, maar op een 24 hectare groot terrein, met 4 podia en bijna 100 optredens van de grootte bands ter wereld.
Ook Werchter Boutique en Werchter Classic, als optredens van grote groepen die de weide voor hun alleen inpalmen gaan hier door.
Sinds 2014 staat hier ook een groot kunstproject, North West Walls. Arne Quinze liet hier zeecontainers plaatsen. Ieder jaar nodigt hij street-art kunstenaars uit om deze te beschilderen, zodat elk jaar hier een nieuw kunstwerk staat.
Door de op- en afbraakwerken van het festival, is het park niet het hele jaar vrij toegankelijk.
Gelukkig wordt het terrein in 2022 terug afgesloten. Dit van begin mei tot begin augustus.
