Geocache Description:

Isosaari has served as a closed military island on the 19th, 20th and 21st century - it opened to public 2017.

The cache requirements:

In the first location (cache coordinates) lies a lonely grave of an English man killed by a cannon ball on June 22nd 1855. According to local lore his body was headless. Count the links of metal chain on the short side of the grave, either in front or behind the tombstone. Take a picture of possible tributes (flowers, candles...) on the burial site.

On the second  location (waypoint 01) you will find a memorial stone of 1918 civil war. Shortly after the war Isosaari was one of the many prison camps holding the reds. Due to the location 9km offshore, Isosaari was ment for the most dangerous red rebels. Between May and September 1918 over fifth of all prisoners died. Of those over 300, whom were killed by executions, hunger and poor hygiene, only eight could be buried on the site and the rest had to be shipped to other islands. The memorial was established 1955 and it is dedicated to those who gave their lives for their ideals on the side of the reds. Here your task is to count the stone pillars holding a metal chain around the memorial area. Also take a picture of flowers, candles or other possible tributes on the memorial.

The third coordinates (waypoint 02) lead you to closed barracks. On the wall there is a memorial plate. Which year the barracks were closed? Can you guess which sport soldiers have played on the yard? Take a picture of yourself on the location.

Send me the answers via geocaching.com message or email  (yurihoy@gmail.com) and post one of the pictures on your log - you may choose which one (no spoilers!).

And most of all: have an awesome day on the island!
