Geocache Description:

Ristejä raudasta

Kyläseppä Karl Lind takoi satoja rautaisia hautaristejä Vesilahden hautausmaalle. Vaikka tyyli olikin sama, kaikki ristit olivat erilaisia.

Crosses forged of iron

Blacksmith of the village, Karl Lind, forged hundreds of funeral crosses that were placed in the cemetery of Vesilahti. Even though all of these crosses were of a common style, no two were quite the same. A few of these crosses still remain in the cemetery, some are stored indoors, and one is used as an altar piece of art in nearby Narva.

Lind had forged a funeral cross for himself, too, but didn't get it on his own grave. He was a better blacksmith than a businessman. His poor widow had to sell that cross to provide for the family.

Your task is to attach a photo to your log entry. The photo must show both a cross forged by smith Lind and something personal. The cross can be the one at the given coordinates, or one of those at the coordinates indicated by the waypoint. The personal item can be a part of you, or possibly something made of iron that you have brought with you. For example, some ornament forged of iron, or maybe just a nail. The photo must suit the dignity and tranquility of the cemetery, otherwise the log will be deleted.

The sample picture below shows one of the crosses, with a lantern made of iron (and glass) brought along by a geocacher.
