Tra le piazze più belle del mondo, Piazza San Marco è il cuore pulsante di Venezia, autentico tripudio d’arte e cultura, è l’unica piazza cittadina che si affacci sul mare, da sempre salotto dei veneziani, che amano passeggiare in quello che è uno dei più straordinari percorsi di arte e storia italiane, un mosaico di edifici civili e religiosi.
Il più scenografico accesso a Piazza San Marco è senza dubbio quello dal mare. Appena approdati sulla Riva degli Schiavoni vedrete, in tutto il suo splendore, il Palazzo Ducale unito alla Basilica dalla monumentale Porta della Carta e sede del governo della Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia. Davanti al Palazzo Ducale, dall’altra parte della piazza, situata tra la Zecca ed il Campanile di San Marco, troverete la Biblioteca nazionale Marciana, tra le principali biblioteche d’Italia. Sul fianco della biblioteca, ecco il Campanile di San Marco, detto Paron de casa, la basilica, cuore religioso di Venezia, invece si affaccia sulla parte più ampia della piazza. Guardando la basilica, sul lato della piazza a sinistra noterete la Torre dell’orologio. Adesso volgete le spalle alla basilica. Davanti a voi, l’immenso spazio della piazza, delimitato a destra dalle Procuratie Vecchie, a sinistra dalle Procuratie Nuove e sul fondo dall’Ala napoleonica.

Among the most beautiful squares in the world, Piazza San Marco is the beating heart of Venice, an authentic triumph of art and culture, it is the only town square overlooking the sea, which has always been a place for the Venetians, who love to walk in what it is one of the most extraordinary paths of Italian art and history, a mosaic of civil and religious buildings.
The most spectacular access to piazza San Marco is undoubtedly the one from the sea. As soon as you arrive on the Riva degli Schiavoni you will see, in all its splendor, the Ducal Palace joined to the Basilica by the monumental Porta della Carta and seat of the government of the Most Serene Republic of Venice. In front of the Ducal Palace, on the other side of the square, located between the Mint and the Campanile of San Marco, you will find the Marciana National Library, one of the main libraries in Italy. On the side of the library, here is the Campanile di San Marco, called Paron de casa, the basilica, the religious heart of Venice, instead it faces the widest part of the square. Looking at the basilica, on the left side of the square you will notice the Clock Tower. Now turn your back to the basilica. In front of you, the immense space of the square, bordered on the right by the Procuratie Vecchie, on the left by the Procuratie Nuove and on the bottom by the Napoleonic Wing.
