The St. Catharines Museum & Welland Canals Centre is located at Lock 3 of the Welland Canal and includes the Welland Canal Viewing Platform, the St. Catharines Museum Exhibition Galleries, Merritt's Mercantile Gift Shop and several room rental spaces.

Open year round from 9 to 5 Monday to Friday, the museum at Lock 3 in St Catharines is a great place to spend an afternoon with the family, have a picnic, play in the playground, watch the ships from around the world passing through the canal or take a stroll along the paved walkway. The museum, including the viewing platform is wheel chair friendly and all amenities are readily available. It is free to visit but donations are always welcomed. Plenty of parking even for those RVers, and there is a number of caches with in walking distannce Be sure to check out their web site to get the times when the ships will be in the lock
Be sure to visit the Fallen Workers Memorial unveiled in 2017. This Memorial commemorates the 137 men who died building the Welland Ship Canal. The Memorial is located at the very north side of the Discovery Park, beside the playground and picnic area
