The adventure continues! Brevard County has been a magnet of exploration both as a destination and a launching point. 445 years after its discovery by Europeans, a new breed of pioneer began their launch into space, to boldly go where no man, where no one, has gone before.
Space View Park is the site of multiple memorials and recognition of the workers who strived and sacraficed to make the universe a better place. Please take the time to respectfully enjoy the park for it's intended purpose while fulfilling this Virtual geocache.
The posted coordinates are for parking. Please note the four additional coordinates. Each location's memorial has a question associated with the monument. Contact the CO with the answers (email or message) and feel free to log your find at that time.
Mercury Program: What was the third specific goal of the project?
Gemini Program: How many stars are on the silver monument?
Apollo Program: What US President's bust is displayed?
Space Shuttle Program: How many space shuttles are commemorated?
Final note: Directly across the river from the Gemini and Mercury monuments is NASA's Vehicle Assembly Building and launch facilities. From this site all of these programs launched vehicles and people into space itself. At some point within your lifetime you may be able to see a launch that will land one of our people on another planet...or beyond.
