L'ANFITEATRO è una costruzione imponente e grandiosa, in grado di contenere fino a 12.000 spettatori. Ospitava tutti gli spettacoli circensi e i giochi gladiatori così cari ai pompeiani, che dedicarono la maggior parte del loro tempo libero a queste esibizioni. Il periodo della sua costruzione risale all'80 a.C. Fu commissionato dai magistrati Quinto Valgo e Marco Porciusl e fu costruito in parte facendo uso di un terrapieno, in parte scavando nella terra per diversi metri.
Nel 1972 Adrian Maben girò nell'anfiteatro un film documentario con i Pink Floyd in concerto; sebbene la band si esibì in un tipico set dal vivo dell'epoca, non era presente pubblico oltre la troupe cinematografica di base.
Per registrare questa cache virtuale, è obbligatoria una foto del geocacher nella posizione indicata dalle coordinate, che mostri chiaramente l'anfiteatro e almeno UNA delle seguenti cose:
1) il nome utente del geocacher
2) il biglietto di ingresso, anche sul telefono, possibilmente con la data

The AMPHITHEATRE is an impressive and grandiose construction, capable of holding up to 12,000 spectators. It hosted all the circus shows and the gladiatorial games so dear to the Pompeians, who devoted most of their spare time to these performances. The period of its construction dates back to 80 B.C. It was commissioned by the magistrates Quintus Valgus and Marcus Porciusl and it was constructed in part by making use of an embankment, in part by digging down into the earth for several metres.
In 1972 Adrian Maben shot a documentary film with Pink Floyd in concert in the amphitheater; although the band performed in a typical live set of the time, there was no audience present beyond the basic film crew.
In order to log this virtual cache, a photo of the geocacher is mandatory required; the photo must be taken at the Ground Zero, exactly the location indicated by the coordinates, clearly showing the amphitheater and at least ONE of the following things is mandatory:
1) the geocacher username
2) the entrance ticket, also on your phone, possibly with the date

Der AMPHITHEATER ist eine beeindruckende und grandiose Konstruktion, die Platz für bis zu 12.000 Zuschauer bietet. Hier fanden alle Zirkusshows und Gladiatorenspiele statt, die den Pompejanern so am Herzen lagen, die den größten Teil ihrer Freizeit für diese Aufführungen aufgewendet hatten. Die Bauzeit reicht bis 80 v. Chr. Zurück. Es wurde von den Magistraten Quintus Valgus und Marcus Porciusl in Auftrag gegeben und zum Teil unter Verwendung eines Dammes errichtet, zum Teil durch mehrere Meter in die Erde gegraben.
