Geocache Description:

I've been scampering around castles since I was a child. Wales is littered with castles and all the historical stuff is on the boards on site, so I won't repeat it all here.

For those who aren't familiar with Virtual Geocaches - there is no box and no log to sign - instead you have to DO stuff to show me you were here. Here's what I want you to do...

A) Stand at the coordinates. You will see lots of square holes in the walls all around, about 15cm in size, these would have held beams to hold the upper floors up. In one spot there are three of these holes close together, arranged like eyes and a mouth, take a picture and email or message it to me; don't add it to your log though, this is part of your proof you were here and we don't want armchair cachers using it to cheat.

B) Next, find the spot where the above photo through the castle walls was taken and take a similar one through the same window, showing...

i) the walls

ii) something personal so I know you were there (a thumb, a foot, a GPSr, a handbag, today's newspaper, a visiting TB... you get the idea)

iii) AT LEAST ONE LIVING THING (the local livestock will normally show up, but creativity and imagination are encouraged, there is a doorway nearby, please don't climb the walls, and grass and trees don't count!!!). (You can combine ii) and iii) of course). Post this picture with your log for everyone to see, the crazier the better.

If you've done everything correctly your log will stand, if not I will delete it.

PLEASE RESPECT THE CASTLE BUILDERS AND THE STONES - These walls have been standing for 700+ years and will continue to do so as long as people don't climb on them or generally mess about with them.

CADW, the castle owners, list the opening times as 10-4 on the website, but the gate is not locked, so access is available any time, many people come here to take sunrise and sunset shots out of hours, there is no entrance fee, but the riverside car park gate gets locked at 4:30pm.

Now, do you have the nerve to cross the stepping stones???? There are a few excellent caches over there! You know you want to!
