Virtual Reward 2.0 Nupen







Norsk Fonteneanlegg i Otterdalsparken”, populørt kalt "Nupenparken".
Dette er det største skulpturanlegget i Norge siden Vigelandsanlegget.
Det dekker et område på 2000 kvadratmeter og har 500 kvadratmeter basseng.
Skulpturene er laget av mellom 70 og 80 tonn svensk granitt og hugget av danske steinhuggere.
Da Nupen fikk sitt oppdrag,
var bassengformene allerede på plass i Otterdalsparken og parkanlegget utformet.
Han ble bedt om å lage en større anlagt fontene som ved å forholde seg til
landskapet skulle være et blikkfang og det naturlige midtpunktet i parken.
Uttrykket er abstrakt med delvis grove, delvis glatte og blankslipte overflater.
Noen steder er steinen farget blå.
Skulpturene skal fra sjøsiden symbolisere Christian IV som kommer med skip til Sanden i 1641.
Hovedfontenen der vannet renner ned,
gjenspeiler Kvadraturen, den øverste søylen kongens fremtidsrettede byplanløsning.
En kvadratisk søyle forestiller den etablerte, solide by.
Kjell Nupen sier at vannet er hovedsaken, steinene skal transportere det.
Han selv karakteriserte i 1990 anlegget som noe i skjæringspunktet mellom kunst og natur.
Finansiert av Falconbridge Nikkelverk og Kristiansand kommune i anledning byens 350 års jubileum.



Nupenparken English Fountain plant in Otterdalsparken ”, popularly called" Nupenparken ".
This is the largest sculpture plant in Norway since the Vigeland facility.
It covers an area of 2000 square meters and has a 500 square meter pool.
The sculptures are made of between 70 and 80 tonnes of Swedish granite and carved by Danish stonemasons.
When Nupen got his assignment,
the pool forms were already in place in the Otterdal Park and the park facility was designed.
He was asked to create a larger landscaped fountain which,
by dealing with the landscape, should be an eye-catcher and the natural centerpiece of the park.
The expression is abstract with partially coarse, partially smooth and shiny-ground surfaces.
In some places the stone is colored blue.
The sculptures will from the sea side symbolize Christian IV, which comes with a ship to Sanden in 1641.
The main fountain where the water runs down,
reflects the Quadrature, the upper column of the king's future-oriented urban planning solution.
A square column depicts the established, solid city.
Kjell Nupen says that the water is the main thing, the stones will transport it.
In 1990 he himself characterized the plant as something at the intersection of art and nature.
Funded by Falconbridge Nikkelverk and Kristiansand municipality on
the occasion of the city's 350th anniversary.
