Since Wilbur and Orville Wright first launched an airplane into the air, humans have been fascinated by these amazing flying machines. The Perth Airport Viewing Area provides a great place to spend some time watching the miracle of flight in all its glory.
On any visit you will be rubbing shoulders with aviation enthusiasts, photographers, you-tubers, families with kids, people waiting for friends and loved ones to land, and now geocachers.
Before attempting to locate this “hide” there are some things to take note of.
- The viewing area is open between 07:30 and 17:30 each day. In the summer months it is open a little earlier and later, but if you visit during these listed times, you can’t go wrong.
- It is worth doing a quick Google of Perth Airport Arrivals and Departures. There are times in the day where there are few flights happening. It would be a shame to visit and not observe some planes taking off or landing.
To log a find on this Virtual Cache please complete the following tasks:
1. At either end of the viewing platform, there are signs showing an aviation achievement. What is this achievement? Please send the answer to me via the messaging function in the App or by email. Please don’t post the answer in your log.
2. Please send me or post a photo of yourself at the viewing area, pointing to the last aircraft on the blue sign. The picture should show at least your hand and the aircraft in it.
3. Any logged finds not complying with the answer and photo tasks above, may be deleted.
4. Finally, enjoy the magic of flight as you watch these fantastic machines defy gravity taking off and landing. Feel free to describe your experience in your log.
