Sigtuna rådhus är Sveriges (kanske Europas?) minsta rådhus.
År 970 grundades Sigtuna som Sveriges första stad. Den ursprungliga stadsplanen finns i stort sett bevarad och staden är ungefär lika stor nu som då.
För trehundra år sedan var Sigtuna en fattig och utarmad stad. Århundraden av krig, fattigdom och flera stadsbränder hade tärt hårt på den lilla staden. När Eric Kihlman tillträdde som borgmästare i Sigtuna stad år 1737 fann han det gamla rådhuset i uselt skick. Han beslutade att staden behövde ett nytt rådhus och gjorde egna ritningar i enlighet med tidens ideal. Med gemensamma krafter samlade stadens invånare in resurser till bygget, det gamla tornet flyttades från det gamla rådhuset, och på pingstafton 1744 kunde det nya rådhuset invigas. Det finns två rum, rådsalen till höger och polisens vaktrum med två celler till vänster. Den vackra rådsalen inreddes med kungaporträtt och pampiga stolar. Det mesta av möblerna och föremålen togs dit av Kihlman under åren 1740 till 1750. I rådsalen hölls möten med stadens rådmän och i rådhusrätten dömdes stora och små förbrytare under drygt 200 år. Idag är det lilla rådhuset en välbesökt del av Sigtuna Museum, det är också en populär vigsellokal året runt.

Sigtuna Rådhus is the smallest town hall in Sweden – maybe even in Europe.
In the year 970, Sigtuna was founded as Sweden's first town. The original street pattern is to a large extent preserved, and the city is about the same size now as it was then.
After many years of war, poverty and several large city fires, 300 years ago, Sigtuna was a poor city. When the mayor Eric Kihlman began his service in Sigtuna 1737, he found the town hall in a deplorable state. At the initiative of Kihlman, the construction of the present town hall began on the same site as the old one. The tower was moved from the old building to the new one. In 1744 the hall was inaugurated and the first general council was held. The town hall has two rooms. The left one was until the thirties the guardroom of the police and had two cells. The room to the right is the council hall. Most of the furniture and other objects were brought there by mayor Kihlman around the years 1740 and 1750. Today Sigtuna Town Hall is part of the Sigtuna Museum. It is also popular for weddings.
