Robert Nesta Marley

Welcome to Nine Mile in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica
This Virtual is located very close to the birthplace and gravesite of Bob Marley. He was born on the 6th of February on the farm of his maternal grandfather to Norval Sinclair Marley and Cedella Malcolm. Marley attended Stepney Primary and Junior High School which serves the catchment area of Saint Ann. At age 12, he and his mother moved to Trenchtown in Kingston where his musical career would flourish which might not have happened here. Bob Marley and the Wailers would soon come champion the radio stations of Jamaica. In 1977 he was found to have a type of malignant melanoma and four years later, passed in Miami after their last record tour of "Uprising" in Europe. His funeral was on May 21, 1981 and is laid to rest with his gutair-close to the rock pillow
