A Coast to Coast Walk is a 182-mile (293 km) unofficial and mostly unsignposted long-distance footpath. Devised by Alfred Wainwright it passes through three contrasting national parks: the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park. Wainwright recommends that walkers dip their booted feet in the Irish Sea at St Bees and, at the end of the walk, in the North Sea at Robin Hood's Bay.
Wainwright intended the route as a rough guide and stated "I want to encourage in others the ambition to devise with the aid of maps their own cross-country marathons and not be merely followers of other people's routes: there is no end to the possibilities for originality and initiative." This is why it is called 'A', rather than 'The' Coast to Coast walk, however many people regard his route as the definitive route. Most people take between 10-15 days to walk the route, either camping or staying at B&Bs, however the record currently stands at 39 hours 18 minutes and 40 seconds.
Although unofficial at the time of publishing (due to become a National Trail by 2025), A Coast to Coast Walk uses public rights of way, permissive paths and open access land; it is one of the most popular of all the long distance footpaths in the UK. In 2004 the walk was named as the second-best walk in the world according to a survey of experts.
Ideally in order to claim this cache you should complete the walk, it's a fantastic walk and we would recommend it to anyone who feels up to the challenge, however as long as the below logging requirements are fulfilled which should prove that you have travelled from one coast to the other and hit several points along the way, you are more than welcome to log the cache.
The key to succesfully logging this cache is consistency. All photos must include an identifiable object, and the SAME object must be used at ALL of the locations throughout the walk, this object must be unique to the user logging (for example if there are two of you logging using separate accounts you must have a different photo and identifiable object each), this helps to prove you have visited all the locations in pursuit of this cache. This object could be a person, GPS, mascot etc.
Any logs not containing all the required photos meeting the above criteria will be deleted, no generic/photoshopped photos please.
Logging requirements:
1) A photo in front of the Coast to Coast sign at St. Bees (location 1)

2) A photo at this Welcome to Honister sign where the C2C path turns off the road (limited phone signal at this location so note the coordinates in advance)(location 2)
3) A photo at the brother's parting stone by Grisedale Tarn (location 3)

4) A photo at Nine Standards Rigg with the cairns in the background (location 4)

5) A photo at Richmond in front of the gates (open or closed) to the castle (location 5)

6) A photo with this signpost at Bloworth Crossing (location 6)

7) A photo at Grosmont station with this sign/flower bed (location 7)

8) A photo at Robin Hoods Bay with the Coast to Coast end sign on the side of the Bay hotel (location 8)

The above photos show what we would like to see in your photos, we completed our walk on 27th May 2022, please see our owner maintenance log posted on this date as an example of how to incorporate your 'object' into the photos, in our case we used a Northumberland flag.
If you have walked the C2C and are now logging this cache, congratulations we hope you enjoyed it and have created many memories along the way.
