*** Faro de Punta Brava / Punta Brava Lighthouse VR2.0 ***
PLEASE NOTE - since some seem to think they can log this cache in any way they want (without answers, without a picture and so on): come to the cache site WELL PREPARED. Not having an internet signal on the spot is NO EXCUSE. Make sure you know what to do BEFORE coming to the cache site. Make sure you have the co-ordinates of the Waypoints. This Virtual is NOT about just having been at the Lighthouse. You MUST fulfill ALL THREE TASKS in order to qualify for a valid log. If you do not feel like searching for the (right) answers to the questions, just ignore this Virtual. Send us your answers BEFORE you place your log. If you do not follow the crystal clear instructions, please do not be surprised if your log will be deleted. We are happy if you would log our Virtual, but only if you fulfill all three requirements! Have fun at this nice place!
In July / August 2019 Vader&zoon (The Netherlands) had a trip through Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil and Uruguay and stopped along the way at this nice little Lighthouse. Since there are not too many caches in Montevideo (not even speaking of the whole country of Uruguay), we decided to leave a cache here that won’t be muggled, a Virtual cache :-)

Punta Brava Lighthouse or Faro de Punta Brava, also known as Punta Carretas Lighthouse, is a lighthouse in Punta Carretas, Montevideo, Uruguay. It was erected in 1876. The lighthouse has a height of 21 metres and its light reaches 15 nautical miles (28 kilometres) away, with a flash every ten seconds. In 1962, the lighthouse became electric. The lighthouse is important for guiding boats into the Banco Inglés, Buceo Port or the entrance of the Santa Lucía River, west of Montevideo city.
We have a couple of simple tasks for you in order to enable you to log this Virtual cache:
Task 1: S 34° 56.120' W 56° 9.641'
At the corner you will find a red miniature light, built upon a (round) construction of bricks. Send us the color the bricks have. Update 9 Nov. 2022: the light has been taken down; you can still make out the place where the light was and definitely the colour of the bricks. Please make sure your are at the right coords; if you are at the right place there can be no misunderstanding as to what bricks and what colors are meant.
Task 2: S 34° 56.101' W 56° 9.632'
Here you will have to search for a small square concrete flat stone. Please send us the full text on that stone. Please note: Update 28 Jan. 2022: if you are unable to decipher the text, just send us a picture of the stone with a personal item for unique identification.
Task 3: S 34° 56.109' W 56° 09.639'
Include a picture in your log with unique personal features (yourself, a personal item) that unambiguously shows that you have been on the spot. The picture does not have to include yourself and can show any personal object you like.
In short: Send us the color of the bricks and the text on the stone (or a picture of it) through the Message Center. Attach a picture to your log with a personal item.
Please note:
- You have to send us your answers BEFORE you place your log
- Any logs without the (right!) answers sent to us or without the right picture, will be deleted. If you can log your find, you can also send us a message!
- This Virtual is not about just having been at the Lighthouse. All three (!) tasks have to be fulfilled in the correct way in order to qualify for a valid log
- Please do not give away the answers in your log or in your pictures!
