Origine de la devise

La phrase « l’Union fait la Force » est prononcée par le régent Érasme-Louis Surlet de Chokier lors de sa prestation de serment le 25 février 1831. Il ne s'agit pas alors de l'union entre les communautés linguistiques du pays, comme on interprète souvent aujourd'hui cette devise, mais de l'union des tendances catholiques et libérales de la bourgeoisie majoritairement francophone au nord comme au sud, l'unionisme, au pouvoir après la révolution. Cette devise, qui sera gravée au centre du parlement, exprime la nécessité de s'unir dans un État encore fragile et menacé par les armées de Guillaume Ier des Pays-Bas.

De Wallonie en Flandre, de Flandre en Wallonie

Symbole d’unité entre Wallonie et Flandre, la passerelle située aux coordonnées de la cache virtuelle relie la commune d’Orroir (Wallonie) et la commune d’Avelgem (Flandre).

Elle a été construite à l’emplacement d’un ancien pont de chemin de fer de la ligne 83 reliant jadis Courtrai à Renaix.

Inaugurée en mai 2015, cette passerelle permet désormais aux cyclistes et piétons de relier en toute tranquillité les réseaux cyclables flamands et wallons.

Cette cache virtuelle vous propose une petite balade de 3km en longeant l’Escaut de part et d’autre, tantôt en Wallonie, tantôt en Flandre. Vous emprunterez donc 2 ponts. Ces ponts sont symboliques car ils sont tous deux construits sur la frontière linguistique.

Etape 1 : Il vous faudra poster 2 photos dans votre log.

• Une photo aux coordonnées de la cache (passerelle), sur laquelle on voit soit votre pseudo, soit votre gps, soit vous-même (les photos de visages sont facultatives).

Oorsprong van dit motto

De uitdrukking "Eendracht maakt macht" werd uitgesproken door Regent Erasmus-Louis Surlet de Chokier bij zijn beëdiging op 25 februari 1831. He ging toen niet om de vereniging tussen de taalgemeenschappen van het land, zoals dit motto vandaag de dag vaak wordt geïnterpreteerd, maar om de vereniging van de katholieke en liberale stromingen van de overwegend Franstalige bourgeoisie in zowel het noorden als het zuiden, het unionisme, dat na de revolutie aan de macht kwam. Dit motto, dat in het midden van het parlement zou worden gegraveerd, drukt de noodzaak uit om zich te verenigen in een land dat nog steeds fragiel is en bedreigd wordt door de legers van Willem I van Nederland.

Van Wallonië naar Vlaanderen, van Vlaanderen naar Wallonië

De voetbrug op de coördinaten van de virtuele cache verbindt de gemeentes Orroir (Wallonië) en Avelgem (Vlaanderen). Ze is zo een symbool van de eenheid tussen Wallonië en Vlaanderen.

De brug werd gebouwd op de plaats van een oude spoorwegbrug op lijn 83, die vroeger Kortrijk met Ronse verbond.

De brug is bedoeld voor voetgangers en fietsers. Ze werd in mei 2015 in gebruik werd genomen en vormt een rustige verbinding tussen de Vlaamse en Waalse fietsnetwerken. 

Deze virtuele cache vormt een korte lus van 3 km aan beide kanten van de Schelde, deels in Wallonië en deels in Vlaanderen. U neemt dus 2 bruggen. Deze bruggen zijn symbolisch omdat ze allebei op de taalgrens zijn gebouwd.

From Wallonia to Flanders, from Flanders to Wallonia

Symbol of unity between Wallonia and Flanders, the footbridge located at the coordinates of the virtual cache links the commune of Orroir (Wallonia) and the commune of Avelgem (Flanders).

It was built on the site of an old railway bridge on line 83, formerly linking Kortrijk to Renaix.

Inaugurated in May 2015, this bridge now enables cyclists and pedestrians to connect the Flemish and Walloon cycle networks in complete peace and quiet.

This virtual cache offers you a short 3km ride along the Scheldt on both sides, sometimes in Wallonia and sometimes in Flanders. You will therefore take 2 bridges. These bridges are symbolic because they are both built on the linguistic border.
