Desde el descubrimiento de la tumba del Apóstol Santiago en Compostela, en el siglo IX, el Camino de Santiago se convirtió en la más importante ruta de peregrinación de la Europa medieval. El paso de los innumerables peregrinos que, movidos por su fe, se dirigían a Compostela desde todos los países europeos, sirvió como punto de partida de todo un desarrollo artístico, social, económico y religioso que dejó sus huellas a lo largo de todo el Camino de Santiago. En 1993, Año Jacobeo, se produce el resurgimiento peregrinal. La mezcla de reto deportivo con religiosidad, con búsqueda de lo auténtico y de uno mismo, todo ello escoltado por estilos románicos y góticos, entre caballeros templarios y monjes benedictinos, entre hayas y trigos, entre castaños y carvallos, entre leyendas y milagros hacen del Camino de Santiago una experiencia singular. El Camino de Santiago tiene un fundamento religioso cristiano de culto jacobeo, abierto también a otras vivencias humanas que te enriquecerán como persona. Merece la pena encontrar una forma de mantener esa experiencia. La parroquia de Santiago y San Juan Bautista es el templo de advocación Jacobea más antiguo de todo Madrid, situada a escasos 200 m de la catedral de la Almudena, es un lugar idóneo para iniciar el Camino de Santiago desde Madrid. Por ello todos los años solemos entregar mas de 10.000 credenciales de la peregrinación al camino de Santiago. A pesar de que no somos una oficina de atención al peregrino pretendemos crecer en la vocación misionera y jacobea de la parroquia.
¿Qué es la Credencial?
La Credencial es un documento personal e intransferible de cada peregrino que le identifica como tal y donde se van sellando las etapas que este recorre hasta llegar a Santiago de Compostela.
¿Para qué vale?
El documento vale para identificar al peregrino y acreditar que es merecedor de la compostelana, cuyo requisito es recorrer más de 100 Km si el peregrino va a pie o 200 Km si va a caballo o en bicicleta.
¿Cómo Puedo conseguir la mía?
En los horarios de apertura del templo, dependiendo la disponibilidad de los oficios, acreditamos a los peregrinos que se hacen presentes con cualquier documento que los identifique empiecen o no el camino desde Madrid. La credencial se entrega en la sacristía, en el interior del templo, al lado izquierdo al fondo. Es frecuente que, incluso durante las celebraciones, esté la puerta abierta y podamos atenderle. A los peregrinos se les pide aportar un donativo a los pies de la imagen del Apóstol. También podemos facilitar la credencial del peregrino a grupos de colegios, parroquias u otras instituciones. En estos casos les sugerimos hacer un contacto previo por teléfono o correo electrónico. Les ofrecemos la credencial para que dicha institución los acredite. Además podrás recibir la Bendición del Peregrino en cualquiera de las misas que se celebran. Basta con informar de tu presencia, en la sacristía, unos minutos antes de la celebración. Al final de la misa el sacerdote llamará a los peregrinos y les impartirá la bendición delante de todo el pueblo para que los feligreses recen por ellos durante su peregrinación.
¿Preparar tu camino?
No conviene olvidar que toda peregrinación es un acto del hombre en busca de sí mismo y de Dios, por tanto esta experiencia no está exenta de pequeños sufrimientos, como el cansancio y la precariedad. Para poder realizar bien esta experiencia la iglesia viene en nuestra ayuda y nos da su bendición pidiendo la intercesión del Apóstol. Mejor que “hacer el camino” deja que “el camino te haga a ti”. Es bueno tener cierto conocimiento y planificación, pero déjate sorprender. Aunque no creas en Dios, Él si que cree en ti. En muchas ocasiones encontrarnos con “nosotros mismos” se convierte en una experiencia dura y cruel si no encontramos antes el amor de Dios en el camino de nuestra vida a través de la naturaleza, de las personas, de la historia de los pueblos reflejada en el arte y de la historia de los acontecimientos de nuestra vida. La Iglesia es un pueblo que camina y que acoge y, sin duda, encontrarás la bendición junto a la cruz.

What is the Credential?

Prepare your way?
