"Groeten uit Eindhoven!"
Eindhoven en Philips zijn onlosmakelijk met elkaar verbonden. Misschien is de stad Eindhoven wel de stad geworden door Philips, en is Philips wellicht het bedrijf geworden dankzij de Eindhovenaren. Hoe dan ook, overal waar je in Eindhoven komt, is Philips terug te zien. De diverse gebouwen, het stadion en de diverse standbeelden hebben hun sporen nagelaten.
Eén van de standbeelden is die van Anton Philips, de jongste zoon van de Fam. Philips.
"Anton Philips"
Anton Frederik Philips (Zaltbommel, 14 maart 1874 - Eindhoven, 7 oktober 1951) was een Nederlandse ondernemer. Hij is 4 jaar na de start (1891) bij Gerard Philips in Eindhoven begonnen (1895).
Op 21-jarige leeftijd ging Anton aan de slag als verkoper van gloeilampen. Het jonge bedrijf moest vooral de concurrentie aangaan met grote bedrijven zoals AEG en Siemens. Anton Philips had al in 1898 al een grote order te pakken, door de verkoop van 50.000 lampen aan de Hermitage in sint Petersburg (Rusland). Door zijn doortastende optreden wist hij het bedrijf uit te bouwen tot een grote onderneming. Anton was een harde onderhandelaar. Met kracht en inzet van zijn hele persoon heeft hij het bedrijf waarover hij sinds 1915 de scepter zwaaide, groot gemaakt.
In de Eerste Wereldoorlog maakte hij handig gebruik van de boycot van Duitse producten in landen als Rusland, Frankrijk en het Verenigd Koninkrijk. De technisch superieure producten mochten niet meer geleverd worden in die landen en Philips slaagde erin daar een aanzienlijk marktaandeel te veroveren.
Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog vluchtte Anton Philips naar de Verenigde Staten, terwijl zijn zoon Frits het bedrijf vanuit Eindhoven leidde.

Met de vijfenzeventigste verjaardag van Anton Philips (1874-1951) op 14 maart 1949 in zicht ontstond het idee om voor deze medegrondlegger van het Philips Concern een standbeeld in Eindhoven te stichten.
De cache
Om deze cache te loggen dien je een digitale ANSICHTKAART te maken en deze bij je log te plaatsen.
Om te laten zien dat je ter plekke bent geweest, maak je een foto van (een deel van) jezelf met op de achtergrond het standbeeld.
Je kunt een ansicht maken door bijvoorbeeld van je foto een screenshot te maken en met de hand of met tekst "Groeten uit Eindhoven!" te schrijven cq te typen. Je hebt dus geen speciaal programma nodig. Uiteraard is het leuk om de creativiteit hierin te zien, maar dat is geen vereiste. Wanneer er niet aan de opdracht voldaan wordt, wordt de log verwijderd.

At the age of twenty Anton was able to work as a salesman of light bulbs. The young company mainly had to compete with major German companies such as AEG and Siemens & Halske. Anton Philips started traveling in the Netherlands, Belgium and the west of Germany and managed to win many orders for the factory.
Through his decisive action, he managed to expand the company into a large enterprise. Anton was a tough negotiator. With the strength and dedication of his whole person, he has made the company, over which he has been in charge since 1915, great.
In the First World War he cleverly made use of the boycott of German products in countries such as Russia, France and the United Kingdom. The technically superior products could no longer be delivered in those countries and Philips succeeded in gaining a significant market share.
During the Second World War Anton Philips fled to the United States. His son Frits ran the company from Eindhoven

With the seventy-fifth birthday of Anton Philips (1874-1951) in sight on March 14, 1949, the idea was born to found a statue in Eindhoven for this co-founder of the Philips Concern.

In order to log this cache you will have to draw up a POSTCARD souvenir of your visit that you will have to attach to your log.
