This Virtual Cache will bring you to the historic village of Riverhead, a small, historically predominantly working-class town that dates back to the early 1800’s and is located at the head of the Waitematā Harbour in the north-west of Auckland, New Zealand. There are still a number of old buildings in Riverhead (even my house was built in 1910) and this cache requires you to go to two of them.
The cache co-ordinates will take you to the first of them. Inside the hall, there is a huge mural on the back wall of the stage which depicts the second historic building. (If you can’t enter the hall or see it through a window, this mural can be found online....even on this page)
To claim this cache, please answer the following questions and email or message me the answers.
1. What year appears on the sign on the hall?
2. What year appears on the signs of the second building?
3. There are some small signs on the bollards in front of the second building which include “Sat – Sun”; what are the other two words?
4. Post a photo outside one of the two buildings. Please take care not to include a sign that gives information about the cache answers.
Please Note: Do not post answers in your log. You can go ahead and log your find, (ie. you don't need to wait for permission) when correct answers are sent and right picture taken. Do not send me the picture, just upload it with your log. Logs without photo, or with a photo in the wrong location, may be deleted. If you are part of a group, the individual posting the group photo must also post the Geocaching Usernames of those in the photo to their log. No finds prior to the listing date of this cache (16th June 2019) will count.
And I hope you enjoy visiting Riverhead.....and maybe even enjoy the facilities of location 2.
