Verkių dvaras 1387 m. paskirtas Vilniaus vyskupui. Vilniaus išvadavimui iš Rusios valstybės užimtų žemių (1655–1661) atminti vyskupas Jurgis Bialozoras iš Verkių dvaro 1662 m. paskyrė 7 valakus žemės bažnyčiai ir Kryžiaus kelio stotims. 1669 m. pastatyta bažnyčia ir vienuolynas, tarp Baltupių, Jeruzalės ir Trinapolio – medinės koplyčios. Įkurdinti dominikonai. 1701 m. įkurta Verkių parapija.
