Die Philharmonie an der Place de l’Europe auf Kirchberg wurde am 26. Juni 2005 eröffnet. Architekt ist Christian de Portzamparc, für die Ausgestaltung der hervorragenden Akustik im großen Konzertsaal war Albert Yaying Xu verantwortlich. In ihren 3 Sälen finden insgesamt 1900 Zuschauer Platz. Das weiße Hauptgebäude hat im Grundriss die Form eines Auges. Die Stahl-Glas-Fassade wird von 823 weißen Säulen von 20 Metern Höhe und 30 Zentimetern Durchmesser optisch dominiert. Für mich ist die Philharmonie eines der schönsten Gebäude Luxemburgs, außen wie innen. Nehmt euch die Zeit und geht einmal um das Gebäude, es ergeben sich immer wieder neue und überraschende Eindrücke. Wenn ein Konzert stattfindet ist auch das Foyer zugänglich, am schönsten ist es abends, wenn die Farbe der Innenbeleuchtung im Foyer ständig wechselt. Ich empfehle ein Lunch Concert zu besuchen. Es handelt sich dabei um eine öffentliche Probe des Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg (gelegentlich mit Gastmusikern) die einmal im Monat in der Mittagspause um 12:30 stattfindet. La Philharmonie est une salle de concerts située sur le Plateau de Kirchberg à Luxembourg-Ville. Inaugurée en 2005, elle accueille aujourd’hui plus de 400 représentations par an et fait partie des principales salles de concerts en Europe. L’inspiration préliminaire de l’architecte Christian de Portzamparc était de marquer l’entrée dans le monde de la musique par un filtre naturel. Cette idée s’est concrétisée sous la forme des 823 colonnes de façade en acier blanc, agencées en trois ou quatre rangées. La rangée de colonnes intérieure renferme des installations techniques, la deuxième épouse le vitrage, et la troisième a une fonction statique. L'extraordinaire réalisation acoustique est l’œuvre de l’acousticien d’origine chinoise Albert Yaying Xu. La Philharmonie accueille des artistes internationaux dans une programmation variée allant d'orchestre, musique de chambre ou récitals à musique du monde ou jazz. Pour prendre goût je recommande un lunch concert, 30 minutes d’une répétition publique avec l’Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg (quelquefois avec un musicien invité) à 12:30 heures. The Philharmonie is a concert hall located in the European district in the Luxembourg City quarter of Kirchberg. Opened in 2005, it has rapidly become one of Europe's premier concert venues. Architect Christian de Portzamparc’s initial idea was to mark the entrance into the world of music through a natural filter. This idea became reality in the form of 823 facade columns made of white steel, arranged in three or four rows. The interior row of columns containing technical facilities, the second supporting the windows, and the third being of a static nature. The amazing acoustic design is the work of Chinese-born acoustician Albert Yaying Xu. The Philharmonie Luxembourg has welcomed international artists as part of a varied program that includes not only orchestra, chamber music and recitals, but also jazz and world music. I recommend a lunch concert, a 30 minute public rehearsal with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg (sometimes with guest musicians) at lunchtime, once a month. The entrance is free.
