[ITA] IL GOLFO BORROMEO
Senza peccare di superbia, credo che questo scorcio sia davvero notevole!
Posto all'inizio della più corta ramificazione del Verbano, il Golfo Borromeo è la parte più famosa del Lago Maggiore, uno scrigno di preziosità che accoglie le Isole Borromee e sul quale si affacciano le note località di Stresa, Baveno e Verbania.
Il Golfo conobbe il suo sviluppo e la conseguente notorietà grazie alla famiglia Borromeo. Già nel 1500 venne edificato il palazzo di Isola Madre circondato da un ampio parco all'Inglese, che è diventato un prezioso giardino botanico ricco di piante rare e fiori esotici, oltre che di una numerosa fauna di volatili orientali, come pavoni bianchi, fagiani dorati e pappagalli. Nel 1600 iniziarono i lavori di costruzione del palazzo dell'Isola Bella, ottima espressione dello stile barocchetto lombardo sia nell'architettura che nella disposizione dei suoi giardini all'Italiana, i quali presentano fioriture multicolori per tutto l'anno, a rotazione tra le varie specie floreali (rose, orchidee, bulbose, magnolie, frutteti, azalee, gardenie, glicini). Queste due isole sono ancora di proprietà della famiglia Borromeo.
Accanto si trova invece la piccola ma pittoresca Isola dei Pescatori, che conserva l’atmosfera di un rustico villaggio ed è l’unica abitata stabilmente anche se solo da una piccola comunità.
Volgendo lo sguardo a nord da questo punto, gli appassionati di montagna possono ammirare le creste del Parco Nazionale della Val Grande e raggiungerlo in breve tempo. Il parco è l’area wilderness più estesa d’Italia, dove wilderness significa armonia, equilibri naturali e silenzi incontrastati, un luogo ormai senza strade né insediamenti dove la natura sta lentamente recuperando i suoi spazi. Alle vostre spalle vi aspetta invece il Mottarone, dalla cui vetta a circa 1500m si può godere di un panorama mozzafiato su 5 laghi e scendere poi verso il pittoresco Lago d’Orta, con la splendida località omonima e l’Isola di san Giulio.
Essendo questa una Virtual Cache, per poter loggare il vostro ritrovamento è assolutamente necessario scattare una foto con lo sfondo del golfo. La foto dovrà contenere anche la vostra immagine o in alternativa almeno una parte del corpo che vi contraddistingua, un vostro oggetto (come il vostro GPS) o anche un foglio con il vostro nickname.
[ENG] THE BORROMEAN GULF
Without wanting to sound arrogant, I think this view is really breathtaking!
Located at the mouth of the shortest branch of the province of Verbano, the Borromean Gulf is the most famous area of Lake Maggiore, a treasure chest of preciousness that hosts the Borromean Islands and it is overlooked by the famous towns of Stresa, Baveno and Verbania.
The gulf experienced its development and gain subsequent notoriety thanks to the Borromean family. The palace on Isola Madre was built already in the 16th century, surrounded by an English landscape park which has become a cherished botanical garden rich in rare plants and exotic flowers, as well as in a large number of oriental birds, such as white peacocks, golden pheasants and parrots. In the 17th century, works began on the construction of the palace on Isola Bella, which is a fine example of the late Lombard baroque style both in its architecture and in the layout of its Italian gardens. These display multicoloured flowers throughout the year, rotating between various floral species (roses, orchids, bulbous plants, magnolias, orchards, azaleas, gardenias, wisterias). These two islands are still owned by the Borromean family.
Next to them, there is instead the small but picturesque Isola dei Pescatori, which preserves the atmosphere of a rustic village and it is the only one permanently inhabited, even if only by a small community.
Looking north from this point, mountain lovers can admire the ridges of the Val Grande National Park and travel there in a short time. The park is the largest wilderness area in Italy, in which harmony, natural equilibrium and silence lay steadily against a place nowadays free of roads and settlements, where nature is slowly regaining control. Behind you instead, Mottarone is awaiting, from whose peak at about 1500m a.s.l. it is possible to enjoy a breathtaking view of five lakes and even climb down to the picturesque Lago d'Orta with its gorgeous namesake town and the island of San Giulio.
