Kiefer3D: Sorry to the folks who've had DNF's. I just have no way of checking the cache right now, and getting it adopted tends to be a pain. I might as well just let it die, so that someone else can plant their own cache nearby..

You are going to the largest cave opening I've seen in the area. (I never have figured out what it's name is.) It's about the size of Rockbridge (which of course isn't a cave.) I haven't been hanging out with any local cavers, but I think it's safe to say, it's not as extensive as the underground river coming out of the Devil's Icebox. Bring a flashlight, explore the cave, and see the bats. You'll probably find the mouse-sized critters hanging right in front of your nose as you walk through. Don't touch them, or you could hurt them. If they're shaking it means they're warming up their flight muscles and coming out of daily hibernation. Once they start moving around they'll probably fly away. If you visit this cache in the Winter, please just stay out of the cave or you could disturb their long-term hibernation and put their survival in jepordy. To learn more about bats in Missouri try one of these websites: http://www.conservation.state.mo.us/conmag/2000/03/4.htm http://www.conservation.state.mo.us/nathis/mammals/batfacts/ The cache is OUTSIDE the cave. Trails will take you directly to the cave opening. Unfortunately, I don't have very good coordinates for this one, so you'll have to rely on your good cacher's judgement for hiding places.
