Goudies Lane is somewhat of a hidden gem in downtown Kitchener. It stretches from Queen Street North to Ontario Street and is home to several murals that are frequently used for picture taking.
What we call Goudies Lane was the docking area of the Goudies department store which closed in 1988. There is still a preserved sign from the department store days painted on the wall of what is today J&P Grocery. The lane currently has strings of lights hanging and picnic tables, along with the beautiful murals. The space has been used for public parties, movies, and a picture taking place.
To log this cache you need to answer a three questions and post a photo:
1 – At ground zero, or close to it, you should be standing on something that has some words and a year. What is the year?
2 - At GZ face Queen Street, on the building to the north of Goudies Lane there is an original painting on the wall from the department store days referencing parking for Goudies shoppers. How many hours of parking does the sign reference? It only costs $0.15! The paint has faded over the years but you can still read what it says.
3 - At GZ face Ontario Street and look at the mural. Who made the mural?
4 - Take a picture of one or more of the murals and post it with your log. It must be a unique picture so include something in the photo to make it yours. It can be you but it doesn’t need to be.
Make sure you message me your answers to the three questions (and don’t post it in your log) and that your photo is unique.
Parking is available across the street. It is a paid lot from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 5pm
