Geocache Description:

The Windsor Sculpture Park is a museum without walls, a unique park showcasing more than 31 large-scale, internationally recognized works of contemporary sculpture by world-renowned artists.

It is a place of convergence and divergence, difference and similarity.

The Windsor Sculpture Park is located on the shores of the Detroit River within Ambassador and Centennial Parks, between the Ambassador Bridge (Huron Church Road) and The Art Gallery of Windsor (Church Street).

The Windsor Sculpture Park is made possible by the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Odette and the P & L Odette Foundation. The park is maintained by the City of Windsor, Parks and Recreation. For Mr. Odette, it was extremely important to have art in public spaces. He generously donated to Windsor and viewed his gifts as part of the Windsor culture scene - an outdoor public gallery open every day of the year, free of charge to Windsorites and visitors.

The recent name change to Windsor Sculpture Park reinforces the importance of the sculpture park as a significant cultural asset and a place which welcomes new sculptures donated by other individuals and groups. The Odette Family continues to have very strong ties to Windsor and a strong commitment to recognizing our city as a cultural leader. Mr. Odette's greatest wish was that Windsor's outdoor sculpture park would be widely known and firmly positioned as a Windsor cultural asset. His legacy, including the gifts of numerous sculpture, transformed the riverfront parks. We are truly grateful to the Odette family and their vision for art in the riverfront lands.

The above sculpture is named 'Tohawah' (which is an Indian name for the Canadian White Whistler Swan) and is located at the Posted Co-ordinates. It is not necessary to actually get next to this sculpture as it a symbol for the Virtual Tour of the Windsor Sculpture Garden and is not on a paved path. The Sculpture Garden is approx. 3.5 km in length, so although it is mostly paved, the Terrain Level is '2' because it's a bit of a stroll, roller-blade, or bike ride.

There are many interesting sculptures along the Tour, and I hope you take the time to enjoy as many of them as possible.

In order to log this Virtual, you must message the answers to the following 5 questions to LadyMoon65 or your log will be deleted.

Plus take a photo of your favourite sculpture (whether it was one of the waypoints, or not) along this Tour - be sure you clearly show you are at your chosen sculpture - and also include it with your log. You don't need to show your face if you don't wish to - however, we do need to know each individual logging the cache was truly there!

Questions:

1. At the first Virtual Cache Co-ordinates, there is a lovely sculpture named 'Consolation'. At the nearby park bench, what was the year of Marguarite's birth?

2. At the second Virtual Cache Co-ordinates named 'Eve's Apple' - in which hand is Eve holding the apple?

2. At the third Virtual Cache Co-ordinates aptly named 'Audio Corridor', you can stroll through the musical chimes as the wind creates enchanting sounds. Sadly, how many of the tubes are missing?

4. At the fourth Virtual Cache Co-ordinates named 'Claim Post' - what is the shape of the purple base?

5. At the fifth Virtual Cache Co-ordinates named 'Consophia' - translate the Ojibway Syllabics on the east side of the beam.

.

In the waypoints, you will notice there are 3 parking locations which are located along Riverside Drive. You can park in any of these parking lots and walk to the various virtual waypoints. However, depending on the time and season, the parking lots are sometimes full, so you have some options as to where to park.
